Croutons are much easier to make than you’d think and can easily be seasoned according to your preference. They add an extra bit of crunch to any salad and are another great use for stale bread. This recipe is ideal for Cobb Salad or French Onion Soup.
1 loaf any Bread Recipe, sliced and cubed, then allowed to stale for at least 3 days (about 4 c)
4 cloves garlic, crushed to a paste
1 Tbsp fresh thyme
1tsp salt
1/2 c butter, melted
Instructions
Put butter and seasonings in a large bowl; use a spoon to mix until uniform. Add the bread cubes and mix until thoroughly combined.
Place on a cookie sheet and bake for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees, or until golden brown. For extra crunch and storage turn the oven down to 250 degrees and continue to bake until very crisp.
Seal tightly in a plastic bag, making sure to label.
