Ham and Cheese Scones

Savory scones are a delightful addition to breakfast or brunch and smell glorious when they come out of the oven. These light and fluffy scones are best enjoyed the day they are made. Mix and match leftover Easter ham and cheese or consider adding some finely chopped broccoli.

Keep a batch frozen and then thaw in the refrigerator when the mood strikes. I promise you will want to make this again after trying the first bite.

Daffodil Cake

Twice recently I have come across recipes for a popular cake from the 1940s – Daffodil Cake. Named for the white and bright yellow colors also seen in the pretty spring bulbs, this dessert is a nice nod to the transition from heavier winter desserts to something much lighter as seen in this angel food cake alternative. Serve with a drizzle of lemon sauce or even whipped cream.
